What: It begins.

[ it's morning, and though there's no shrill of an alarm or sunlight streaming in through windows, you've all just woken up. probably. That would account for why you seem to be in bed, and why you don't remember doing anything before this. It must have been a nice restful sleep.

in this room you don't recognize.

. . . actually, maybe the reason you don't remember doing anything isn't related to having just woken up at all. if you search your mind, you'll find your recollection totally blank.

Maybe you should get up and find out what's going on ]

There's something a little sharper around here than frying pans, I hope.

We'll try it the easy way, first.

[Heading on over to a building to size it up.]

You mean, the boring way?

[she follows but stays a little further back, checking the upper floors and the roof for alternate routes. the windows on the face are a good 20 feet up, looks like, the glass darkened]

[ the first floor has a brick facade, sturdy, but with the passage of time the mortar has worn away and the bricks are starting to crumble. if you're confident in your ability to punch your way through a brick wall, it should be possible to make a hole in it, at least. ]

Nah. Like I said — the easy way.

[Not confident. Not completely. But he's figured out his left arm is a lot stronger than the other one, and that he can't feel it the way he does the right.]

[So he taps with the metal knuckles against the brick, twice, as though to confirm something... and then, yeah. He's trying to break right on through.]

[ with the mortar crumbling, the punch is enough force to knock those few bricks loose and inwards. it doesn't create a huge hole, but it's enough to stick his hand through, and enough to look through, into the darkened interior of the building ]

[Crouches down a bit to look into the hole he's opened up.]

[ it's dark. the windows that ivy noticed 20 feet up are caked with dust, and the little light that filters down into the building scarcely illuminates it. but even in the shadows. . . there's no shapes. no strange shadows, just the flat plane of the floor, until it runs up against similarly empty walls.

did someone clear this place out? ]

They really cleaned the place out.

It doesn't even look like there was an in to begin with. Was there even a door in here that wasn't kindly provided by you?

Hey, if I could punch through walls, I might do it just for kicks. ...That doesn't explain why you'd have a building no one can even get into or out of. It's like a...set or something.

Could be something upstairs.

[Looking around for a way up... there were windows up there, there must be a second story.]

[ there's a rusty spiral stair in the corner. in the dark, it's easy enough to miss on a first pass, but with how empty the place is, not easy enough to miss on a second time looking. ]
